LET FREEDOM RING

Well I copied this picture from my sister Sue's blog.....this is a flag that flew in front of her house....Beautiful.
No fireworks this year because it has just been to dry and the risk for fire to great....

This is the first year since 2000 that there has not been firework drama in my home....next to Christmas I believe that the 4th of July was my daughter's favorite holiday....she was forever wanting to earn money to buy fireworks

And since I have no firework story for this year  I will tell you a story about our first 4th of July with our kids....Wade and all three of the kids spent entirely to much money on fireworks.  I like firework shows in the park not a big fan of shooting them off ourselves....always afraid that someone would get hurt....oh well that is not part of the story....Wade bought the underwater fire crackers and it was a few days befor the 4th and he and the kids could not wait to shoot off something. so Wade in his infinite wisdom decided to fill a plastic wash tub with water and sit it in the middle of the living room and drop these under water fire crackers into the water...  the first one worked great there a a small explosion and the water flashed a beautiful blue color and smoke rose from the water....everyone cheered "do it again Daddy" so with that encouragment he did it again........however this time the fire cracker blew a hole in side of the wash tub and about 15 gallons of water flooded the living room. I was not happy but was so glad we did not have carpet.

to this day if you ask my boys about 4th of July one of the them will say "do you remember when Dad flooded the living room"   we definitely made a memory that day.....and we have had several July 4th's since but none have cmpared to that one....I even laugh about it now.

No fireworks made for a strange holiday but I hope that everyone had  a safe and happy 4th of July anyway.

RATTLESNAKE BITE

Last year in about this time David my son was bitten by a rattlesnake.....  He was in Oklahoma attending Job Corp.  His teacher had him moving a old washer out of the laundry room and when he reached down to pull out the washer the snake bit him on his left hand.   There was a young man there who knew what to do and put a belt around David's arm and they of course called 911.  He was taken to the ER in Lawton and there they gave him anit-vemon.

We were called and told that he was fine and would probably only be in the ER for a couple of hours and then released....however a few minutes later they called back and said the the anti-vemon was not working and that they were having to give him a second dose.

Wade, Samantha and I all headed to Lawton.  By the time we got there he had been given a third dose of anti-vemon and was being admitted for observation.

The snake that bit him was a baby only about 5-6 inches long.  The doctor said that is why he had to be given so much anti-vemon.  Baby snakes do not control the amount of vemon that they release when they strike.  They give you all they have.  Adult snake do not.  So it is better to be bitten by an adult snake than a baby.

David spent 3 days in the hospital.  His hand and arm were measured every 6 hours to begin with and then every 12 hours.  The swelling did not start to subside until late on the second day.  Even after he was home we still had to measure his hand and forearm to make sure the swelling did not return.

David recovered nicely from the snake bite and now has a cool story to tell..... Below are a couple of pictures that I took while he was in the hospital.
just in the center of the bruise you can see the two puncture wounds

this one you can see how swollen his hand and arm are

THE GRADUATE

Well here is a tell about a trip to Graduation on Monday June 20, 2011....

My nephew Joseph Saint graduated from the Art Institue of Dallas with a degree in Video Production.

I picked up my sister Cathy (Cap) filled up with gas and headed to Dallas.....we laughed and said funny things and had a good visit on the way.

We found where we were supposed to be and had about 45 minutes to spare I was so proud of us.....while waiting for the graduation to begin there was a small reception in the fellowship hall....cookies, coffee, tea, fruit that sort of thing.....and being a blogger and a scrapebooker my first thought is pull out the camera and start shooting pictures to share with everyone....well my camera battery was completely dead....grrrrr grrrr grrr...I knew however that the event would be well documented by his mother my sister Debra and by my niece Mandy, Joe's sister.....but still no picture for me to insert here.....grrrrrrrr!

The graduation was very nice standing room only.  Joseph won outstanding graduate in his field Video Production.....how cool and we are all so proud of him....and oh that award will look good on the resume'.

Joe and his award

After graduation was over we were all going to dinner at Red Lobster.   Not being from the Dallas area I was not sure where I was going.   Sydney, Joe's girlfriend said that I could follow her and I thought cool....and we made it out of the parking lot and up onto the expressway and that was the last I saw of Sydney....she drives fast like Steve McQueen bahahahahahahahaha.  Well Cap and I did find Red Lobster and all turned out well....we all ate and laughed and said funny things.   Mandy and Debra took lots of pictures and our waitress even snapped a pic of everyone......in attendance was Jos of course the man of honor...his girlfriend Sydney and her mother Katharine.  Joe's dad "Big Joe" and his Aunt Cap and Aunt Jane (me) and his Mother Debra and his sister Mandy her husband Chris and their children Piper and Shawn....

Now it is time to head home to Electra....it is 9pm and I am going to follow Chris because again I have no idea where I am going......so on to 635 to 35E to 380 to 287 simple right.....oh you would be sooooo wrong.  Not sure what I did wrong but I made a big loop around Dallas and at 10:15pm I passed the Red Lobster where we ate dinner......grrrr grrrr grrrr.  But now I feel confident that I will be on the right track and I was until I got to Denton and again zigged when I should have zagged and ended up downtown Denton.....thought i will ask for dirctions so to the "Stop and Rob" I went and asked could you point me back to I35 and the answer was  "No I do not know where that is"  REALLY!!!!!!  There was a nice storm chaser man in the parking lot who was very helpful however....Oh i didn't mention at this time it is storming heavy rain wind and pea size hail.....grrrr grrrr grrr and my windshield wipers didn't work......But on we went....by the time we got to 287 and just a straight line home Debra and her family were already in Wichita Falls.....

I dropped Cap at her door in Iowa Park at 1:30am an fell into my own bed around 2am......it was a long day....and some might think an awful day but I am here to tell you with all the miss steps and the rain and lightening and hail I would not have been anywhere else......

Joseph, I want you to know that I love you and I am so proud of you.  All we have in life is family friends and our memories..... You have been part of so many of my memories, but this one will be with me a long long time.....remember that Uncle Wade and I believe in you and look forward to seeing all the sucess that comes your way......hugs and kisses Aunt Jane

IN HONOR OF FATHER'S DAY

In honor of Father's Day I have posted a couple of pictures of the two of the best Daddy's I know..Granddaddy (George Chesher) is the man who taught my husband to be the Daddy he is and I will always be grateful for the influence that he has had on our lives.....

This is the best Dad (Wade Reynolds)....the only man I know that was born to be a Dad.  He has loved and supported our children to the best of his ability.  Even during the rough times he never faltered at the Daddy position  he is truley the best....I love you Wade and respect you and thank you for being the Daddy that you are to my children.

Now in honor of My Daddy
Jack Bishop

I do not have an eletronic picture of my Daddy.  He has been gone a long time but he loved me and I loved him.  It has been said the the best thing a man can do for his children is to love their Mother and that is something that thes three men have in common.  Enough said!

A WINDOW TO THE SOUL

My Right Eye
I took this picture myself.....my children all thought it was kind of creepy.....  I like it though.

I have always thought that my eyes were my best feature.   And they say they are the window to the soul.   Hope you can see the love that I have for you all.   My family is more important to me than anything else in this world...

May blessings be upon you.        love me.
